Unveiling the Future of Insulator Coatings: Unmatched Corrosion Resistance and Self-Healing Properties of PFPE Lubricating Oil-Infused Hydrophobized CeO2 Surfaces

Corrosion accounts for 52% of the recorded breakdown insulators utilized in transmission lines, which may interfere with reliability power utilities. The CeO2 conversion coating, CeO2-ethylene propylene diene monomer, EPDM composite and Perfluoropolyether PFPE lubricating oil-infused hydrophobized surfaces were developed on insulator surface to address these challenges. properties three kinds structures are compared based persistence coating over installed a highly contaminated environment. show excellent performance other approaches. A thickness 35.4 µm exhibits contact angles 60°, 85°, 160°, angle hysteresis 12°, 10°, 4°, respectively, after accelerated thermal aging. proposed approach presents self-healing corrosion resistance (corrosion rate 0.3 × 10−3 mm/Y, Icorr 1.2 10−7), post-accelerated research outcome is expected pave way incredibly robust coatings.
